Rabin Mondal, born Rabindra Nath Mondal in 1929 in Howrah, West Bengal, was a renowned Indian painter and a founding member of the Calcutta Painters. After graduating in commerce from Calcutta University in 1952, he pursued his artistic education at the Indian College of Art and Draughtsmanship, Calcutta, and the Asutosh Museum of Indian Art. In 1964, he co-founded the "Group of Eight," which played a pivotal role in promoting modernist art across India.
