Manish Pushkale was born in Bhopal in 1973. Despite being a trained geologist, he also studied art at the Art College in Bhopal, where he received his Master’s degree and developed his artistic style. His art is intrinsically linked to mythology, though he avoids making overt references to it. His contemplative canvases, characterized by a subdued color palette, impart a lingering calmness to his works. Upon closer examination, the motifs and symbols come alive through subtle brush strokes and shading, creating multi-layered meanings.
He has held several solo exhibitions, including "Serendipitous Encounters" at Aicon in Palo Alto in 2009, "Unveiling" at Bodhi Art in Mumbai in 2007, and "Japa" at Bodhi Art in New Delhi in 2006. His artwork has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, such as "Vicissitudes of the Constructed Image" at Tangerine Art Space in Bangalore, "Think Small" at Art Alive Gallery in New Delhi, "Entity" at MEC Art Gallery in New Delhi, and "Deep In Black" at Galerie Muller and Plate in Munich, all in 2009. In 2008, he participated in "Empty and Full" at Aakriti Art Gallery in Kolkata and "Point and Line to Plane VI" at Gallery Beyond in Mumbai. Pushkale received the S.H. Raza Foundation Award in 2003.
