Partha Dasgupta

Partha Dasgupta’s creative mind travels easily from paintings to sculptures in ceramic and vice versa with poetic sensibility.
He received his BVA from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, his MFA from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, and his U G C Net Lectureship.
He got Birla Academy Award twice – in 2000 for Best Drawing and in 2008 for Best Painting.
He taught at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, Sriniketan Shilpasadana , Visva Bharati University, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Centre for Archaeological Studies and Training, Eastern India and Ramakrishna Mission, Institute of Culture(Art appreciation course), Kolkata.
Partha participated in the 1st Ceramics Triennale in India in 2018.
New Delhi Art Fair—2024, 2025, Mumbai Art Fair—2025, Serendipity Art Festival, Presented by ARTALIVE GALLERY, NEW DELHI.
Designed an architectural project in NEWJERSEY, USA in 2016.
He had major solo shows (in Kolkata & Mumbai) so far and participated in several group shows including ‘IMMERSIVE INFINITY’ Curated by Kristine Michael at ART ALIVE GALLERY, 2024, ‘BENGALNAMA’ curated by Ina Puri in 2022, ‘Time & Material’ curated by Bhavna Kakkar in New Delhi 2008, ‘Visual Rhapsody’ curated by Debasish Chanda in Kolkata, New Delhi and Hong Kong in 2008, ‘Endangered Earth’, curated by Sandip Sarkar in Kolkata in 2008, Painting Show in Bahrain in 2007, Painting Show organized by Bridget Fraser in London in 2007, Art in Life at CIMA, Kolkata in 2000, Delhi Blue Pottery shows ‘Water’ in 2002 & ‘Mati’ in 2009.
Also attended several camps and workshops in India,USA,South Korea and Bahrain including  International Triennale in India(New Delhi) in 2005.
He curated three major shows in Kolkata (’Mark on Clay’ 2006, 2014‘Paintings of Sukanta Basu’ 2007). Partha also conducted Raku pottery workshops at Rabindra Bharati Unierversity 2008 & Government Art College 2010.
He received the National Certificate from National Exhibition of Karnataka State Lalit Kala Akademi, Lalit Kala Research Grant 1995, National Scholarship 1998, Junior Research Fellowship 2001 & Senior Research Fellowship 2010.
Partha’s creations enrich the collections of Korea Raku Association, Bahrain Fine Arts Society, U P State Lalit Kala Akademi, Birla Academy and other private and public collections in INDIA , USA & EUROPE.
Partha designed several Durga Puja Sites in Kolkata and Shantiniketan which are treated as trend setters as because of the introduction of new mediums and craft traditions such as Bricks, iron, ceramic, bamboo. He worked on a museum project of undivided Bengal and awarded from the highest levels for his creations several times.
